EARLIER PROJECTS: In 2005, Robert Armin received the approval of the Clare Boothe Luce Foundation to direct a reading of Clare Boothe Luce's hit Broadway comedy, Kiss the Boys Goodbye, which has not been seen in New York since its original production more than 65 years ago! Suggested by the casting search for a Scarlett O'Hara, Luce's play takes a comic look at a cross section of New York City theatrical and literary characters and their culture shock when confronted by the quintessential Southern belle. The reading, featuring Ian August, Donna Lynne Champlin, Tom Riis Farrell, A. Gregory Harris, Lawrence Kleiber, Missy Matherne, Bobbi Owens, Danny Rothman, Michael Rupert, Nicole Ruth Snelson and Richard Springle, was presented on Monday, June 27, 2005, at the West End Theatre with representatives from the Luce Foundation in attendance. Check out Peter Filichia's column on Kiss The Boys Goodbye at Theatermania.com. In 2004, Armin produced a CD, WILLOW HALE: A Simple String of Wonder. It includes thirteen tracks he recorded in 1979, all written and performed by a young singer/guitarist named Debby McHale At the time, Debby was performing in many of New York's hottest clubs including THE BITTER END, THE LONE STAR CAFE, FOLK CITY, THE WEST BANK CAFÉ, THE WEST END, RENO SWEENEY'S, JP’S, TRAX and GREAT GUILDERSLEEVES. Today, Debby is known as Willow Hale and is enjoying a West Coast career as both a singer and a character actress in the L.A. theatre scene and in independent films. Those original 1979 tracks were unavailable until this 25th Anniversary release. Click here for more on Willow Hale.
